Community

Oakland Dairy runs a Donation Program every financial year so as to allow the business to give back to the community. For 2021, we have extended weekly milk donations to 10 NPOs that share our values of family and community.

These NPOs rely heavily on the like-minded kindness of businesses and people out there to do the much needed, hard work that they are doing within their communities. Please take a moment to read their short bios and do not hesitate to reach out to them should you feel inclined to extend a helping hand.

Elsiesrivier Care Centre

Elsiesrivier Care Centre is a daycare centre in Leonsdale, Elsiesriver on the Cape Flats. The school opened in 2010 due to the number of neglected toddlers seen roaming the streets daily. Today, the school accommodates 120 young children between the ages of 3 to 6. It is a haven where the children are looked after and taught with tons of love. Special attention is also given to ensuring that the children’s basic hygienic needs are met by making sure their faces are washed, teeth are brushed and that they are adequately dressed. The children are also provided with two meals and a snack daily. There is a full-time social worker on-site to tend to the emotional needs of the pupils. Elsiesrivier Care Centre aims to create an environment that provides its learners with every opportunity that all children in this country deserve. They strive to provide each child with a strong foundation by fulfilling their spiritual, intellectual, and physical needs; giving each child an equal chance to reach their childhood milestones.

Harare Masjid and Islamic Learning Centre

Harare Masjid and Islamic Learning Centre was established in January 2021. Their main goal is to feed and educate the community, regardless of religion or race. Since they’ve been operational they have contributed to setting up a community centre, organised home-based training, computer classes, and other vocational skill training to assist with job acquirement, running soup kitchens and assisting with support for daycares and children homes. They also provide evening moral classes and organise sporting events to keep the youth off the street and occupied in activities that would cultivate self-worth and discipline.

Destiny by Faith Foundation

Destiny by Faith Foundation (DbF) has partnered with their local church New Faith Ottery to take the initiative to serve the underprivileged communities identified around them. Together with the church, they provide Junior and Senior Youth workshops in dance, music, education, moral development, and cleaning the community. DbF values childhood development greatly and as such invest a lot of their resources into aiding this goal. Aside from the workshops and tutoring programs, DbF also has a full weekly feeding scheme to ensure that individuals in need within the communities receive food and/or necessities parcels. They always aim to uplift and have a positive impact on the lives of the poorest children and families in the surrounding communities and aim to continue to address the educational, economic, and physical needs within these communities.

Rescue Among Many

RAM is a registered NGO dedicated to the support of children, the elderly, and animal shelters in rural areas. They aim to provide food parcels, toiletry parcels, cleaning materials, kitchenware, furniture, linen, and clothing throughout the year to old age homes, children homes, and primary schools in and around Montagu and Ashton. Where and when possible, they build Wendy or Nutec homes for single parents or the elderly with children in need. Currently, they have managed to build 4 homes and a school sick room with funds donated from a couple and garnered through competitions they were nominated in and won. They will continue to pursue their main goal of bringing about impactful change in the rural Winelands through the services they extend to these farm schools and care centres for the youth and elderly because they are truly passionate about ensuring that those in need have access to resources to fulfil their most basic needs.
